Weekly Production log 9

My group and I have finally finished editing our music video and we have finished it for the deadline like everyone else so we are hopefully going to get a good grade on it. Now all we have to start doing in the lesson is our evaluation which shouldn't be hard it will just be long.I think that me and my group did find it hard to edit because some times we did have to ask for help from our teacher.
When my teacher looked back at the work before we imported it he said that our work is distinction quality but there was some gaps and apart from that there wasn't anything wrong with our music video.Then I said that we worked to the best of our ability and what grade we get we will be happy with it because we worked hard on it and we just tried our best but if we do get a distinction im sure we will be a bit surprised.When we finished it we then had to import it which the teachers done for us so that was okay.Then I think the music videos would have been marked by the time we finish it we should get the results back Hopefully we do get the grades we want but if we don't sure we would still be okay with what ev er we get

Me and my group are carrying on with the editing its all going well because we all have our jobs so we know what we are doing to get it done quick we did have to reclaim some clips because we were missing some important clips that we did need so we went to ilford and the skate park and reflimed the. We just carried on i think what we struggled with was the lip syncing because a lot of the time our lip syncing was just randomly become out of sync and it got really annoying so we asked our teacher to help us and he showed us how to fix the problem if it happens in the future. But so far we are on track we are almost finished we are now up to 4 minutes of the song which is like 30 secs from being finished so we are close.to finishing our music video for the deadline on Wensday I find rashaan helpful because he has taught me how to cut to the snare drum so I now know how to cut to it so I can do it if he's not In the lesson.

Weekly Production Log 7

Me and my group now have edited up to 1 minute to 2 minutes so we are about half way there we still have a week left because the deadline is for next Friday so we need to pick it up and stay on track so we don't fall behind and meet the deadline so we can pass because if we fall behind now all the work we have done will just be a waste so we have to now focus because we now know that the roles for editing are me as the editor and Rashaan does cutting to the beat and Leo tells me what shots to cut and edit so we all have our jobs and we all stick to them because we are all quick with the roles that we have chosen because I am the fastest editor its best for me just to do it so we don't fall behind and don't take to long.We also have re-filmed  some shots in Ilford and in seven kings park because we needed to re-film and get some extra clips to fill in some gaps that needed to be filled we also got the some more gym clips as well that we needed to extend the gym shots we had before weren't enough so we had to get some more But i think if we stick to the pace we are at now we will get it done before the deadline and we will hopefully make a good music video but as always if we do get stuck we can always ask our teachers for help.

Weekly production Log 6

Me and my group are now at the stage of editing our footage we all have experience with editing footage and we can all help out. I think that we wont struggle with this editing but if we do we can always ask for help.We have now imported all our footage onto our mac and we have started editing the editing will take us more then 3 weeks for us to do so we have a deadline and we will all stick to it so we stay on track. Our following plans are going to involve us working together and just getting the editing done on time which shouldn't be a problem because all of us know how to edit but as I said before if we need help at any point we can always ask our teachers.
So far there hasn't been any problems with the work because all we had to do was just import the footage and just edit it and our music video has to be longer then the actual song.
we are focusing on getting each shot to cut to the beat which is going well we do swap the editor around so that we can all get a chance to edit so on Thursday I have the control of the mouse while rashaan done the cutting to the beat and Leo read from the script. Next week we all going to start staying back so that we can finish it on time because we only have 2 and half weeks on editing the whole music video.

Production Log Week 5

This week me and my group have been filming and we have finished filming throughout the week we may have some shots that need re filming that wont take long but apart from that we are finished. it all went well we mainly used our production schedule so we could stay on track so we knew what to do on each day and the call sheets helped us. we we filmed in all the locations we wanted too we didn't need to use any back up ones because most of the locations didn't really have that many people in the public places so we was interrupted that much so the recording went well. all we really have to do now is edit the footage for the following week and we are all going to help with that. on Tuesday we are going school early to film one scene that we couldn't get before because we we didn't have the correct time available so we are fully finished.

Production Log Week 4

This week me and my group had to go back and fix up our shooting scrip because we have now changed our main actor that plays as our artist from Omar to rashaan which will make things easier when it comes to filming our music video. We have all the locations we want to film in are all free for us to use because we have now asked for the permissions for the locations. But most of the locations are public anyway so were okay we are now fully ready to film now that we have fully finished our pre production. We are going to stick to our production schedule for next week so we know when and what we are going to film on the days we have chosen to.

Permission to film

The locations we have chosen are mainly outside in ilford we have also got permission for the locations we wanted to film inside the school in the gym and we have got permission for us to film there and we will be able to film there on Friday periods 5-6 and we will also use that time to film in any other locations in the school because we will still have time to film in any other locations in the school  where we have permission we also have permission to film in the conference room tomorrow as well where we have recently got permission from the teacher we are mainly filming in public places in ilford where we don't need any permission to film in them locations so we only needed permission from the two places we chose to film in the school but apart from that we didn't need permission for the other locations. We have permission to film in the conclusion room the gym and the music studio we just asked all the teachers for permission and they all said yes so we are going to film in all the locations in periods 5-6.

Job Roles

Director
Rashaan is going to be our Director because the song we chose to use is Rashaan song and he knows a lot more about the song then me and my other partner which is why we picked him as the director.
I think that he can take charge and tell every one what to do in the music video.

Camera Operator
I thought I would choose this role because I have had experience with cameras in media and out side of media like when we done other activity's in media where we had to use the all the camera equipment and I learnt how to use it all properly how to set up the tripod and put the camera on it and then how to adjust it for every angle i want to use for my media work.

Editor
Leo is going to be our editor because hes had experience with it before with our me vid and he knows how to use the program because we have been told how to use it now and he can use it well. And this shows that Leo would have been the best for this role which is why we chose him for it.

Weekly Production Log 3

Week 3

This week I have been working on my production log which is coming along nicely because were about 40 shots in and we still have a week to go we have our full idea on what we want our music video to now look like and how e want our production log to start. me and my group are sure that every thing that's on that production log can happen on the day we shoot that specific clip so that every one will be able to make it so that there's no problems that will ruin our filming. We have to do about 80 more shots by the end of the week which is more then enough times for us to finish the production log.We now have the locations sorted so we now know where we are going to be filming in every location so that we don't have to ask for permission with the other places we picked before we have chosen other places so that its closer and more easier. We have also got to get the clothing picked for this week for what we want our main artist to wear for the music video.

Locations Reccies

We are going to be using the following locations because we thought that they would give us more of an effect then any other locations. They are suitable because they are closer then the locations we were gonna use before which were all in London where you have people walking around non stop.I think that practically the locations such as
alley ways will be very useful for our music video where we could have some one being robbed. I think the benefits of us filming in these locations are not having to travel up to London just to film a few shots and that its not as busy in the streets like it is up London.
The reason we chose to film in a school is because the places in the school like classrooms are hard to get access to.

The skate park can been used for different things for the music video like doing the rap battle. The different locations we will be using like the park and the alley way will also be used when its at night time because that will give it a better effect for the rapping into the camera and when we have the drug dealing and the robbery.When we do most of the scenes we will be doing it when its dark.

This week me and my group are carrying on with our script we have started to color coordinate it so that we know what everything is on the day we start to record so that we are more organized.we have started  to make sure what days are best for recording in the locations because we don't want the location to be packed with a lot of people so we will need to know what day to film in each location and time. We are also looking for the right clothes for main artist to wear for the certain locations so when we use the skate park he will be wearing like jogging bottoms to make it look ghetto.

The main thing I did this week was my presentation which I had to explain my idea of what I wanted my music video to look like and its called the pitch and I had to show it to the class.

After I had done the presentation straight after you had to do a Q and A where the audience will ask you questions of your presentation if they wasn't clear on anything or they wanted to know anything that you let of.

Me and my group have a clear idea on what we are going to have in our music video the people and the order which I think is good because its better then what we had before. if the people we have chosen are not able to film we can still ask some other people to help us with the roles that need to be done.Now we know our story line and how every things going to plan like the locations we know what scene needs to be in that specific location. But now we have got a brief idea on our whole music video the only problem at this point can be if people drop out but we can just get other people to fit the roles.

Pitch Reflection

Are there any areas of the presentation you would like to give any more detail on?

I needed to put more creativity into my ideas because I don't think I put so much detail into the information I gave when I was explaining the conventions I used I think I needed to give more detail into my ideas on why I was using them. I didn't explain why i was using lip syncing which important and i skipped it. When I was explaining about the locations I was use i need to give more detail on why i was gonna use it like how I would have used the street I should have said I would have had my artist walking down the street rapping into the the camera. Looking back on my presentation I saw that I missed out varied camera language I would use that because it will show different emotions with all the different camera shots. I think that the locations if I was to have a raining scene in my music video I would have to wait for it to rain and that may not have happened so I might need a back up location.

What did your audience identify as the strengths of your music video idea?

The audience thought that I kinda had a clear idea of what I wanted in my music video from the presentation they thought that the main strengths in my music video were the locations and how i was gonna use the locations for my music video. They also thought that with the star persona was good because most rapping music videos have the clothes i picked for my music video such as jeans and hoodies I think that they thought that the clothes I chose were one of my strengths. The audience liked my idea because it was simple and basic and they knew that the reason I chose the song was because it was gonna be easy to make the music video on. The audience liked my theory because of the locations they would have been very effective because the song is about him moving forward and said to have him walking down the street rapping into the camera so that it gives the music video an effect.


What did your audience identify as areas for improvement?

The audience said that I could improve on my ideas and maybe have a bit more knowledge of the conventions and how they might be used in my music video. They didn't think that how I explained my ideas were that clear so they might not have understood it. I know that the audience gave me some ideas like how i will use cutting to the beat and they gave me some ideas on how to use it better then how I said I would use it.The audience thought that the practical side to my idea wasn't that positive because it showed that I only knew a brief idea of my music video and when I was explaining it the audience didn't fully understand the idea of the visual idea of my music video.

What changes will you make to your music video concept based on the feedback you received?

I think now I will be able to use my conventions a lot better with the questions and ideas I got from the audience it will help me make my music video idea better because now I know how to use the conventions and locations better it will help me now I no with all the ideas i have  got it will be easy for me to come up with better and to help me expand my ideas to make a better video.

Target audience for this song is 16 to 20 i think because of the words this artist uses this is for people who like rap because it shows him rhyming and speaking fast. he controls his voice to make it sync with the beat of the song.

The lyrics explain the guys life which shows he feels to share his emotions with the audience as he raps through the song this artist has many different styles but in this case he chose to take it slow because its about his life. some people maybe able to relate to the lyrics when they listen and read them. The lyrics he used tend to rhyme which also falls into the category of rapping.

This song has a nice flow to it and the beat makes you feel how the artist feels while he is rapping i would say the music is for people that have been through what the artist has been through which is why the lyrics explain a lot of the song as well. I think it can connect with you and make you think.

The tempo of this song is very slow which is good because it stays the same through out the song because its meant to show the same emotion towards the audience I think that if the tempo was fast for this song it would have ruined it a lot.

I would have the emotion to be set sad because the lyrics do explain that the artist is meant to be depressed I would have the setting/location in a bedroom because in the lyrics they say that hes in his room thinking. and him walking around like his thinking and sharing what he feels. I think the colour scheme I would have is dark blue and white to symbolizes sadness through out the song. I will have it starting with him fading in and then out to make an effect for the audience to be interested of how the rest of the music video will finish. I would have background noises of it raining to make it seam real of how the artist is felling.
