Styles of Music

Genre video
A genre video is what signifies what's in the video for example location and what the people are wearing. you can tell what sort of genre the song is like for hip hop it would show a lot of bling and have dancing. A typical Rn B song that shows girls in hardly any clothes is like a hip hop video. in the music video I used at the time 0:39 in the video it shows how this song fits the hip hop genre because of the set and how their acting and what they are wearing and the bling they are wearing. The institution will use this for the style because its a fast pace song and it goes with it will.The song will impact on the audience because it might make the audience want to dance to at this time in the song 0:55 it will make people want to dance because its a fast paced song . I could use this style because of how songs are being release they are like this and its more popular so if I used it I think it will make an impact and it will be a good choice.


Genre Subverting Video

A genre subverting video is what is the opposite
of what a genre video is because it will do mostly everything different with stuff like location. In the song at 1.30 it shows how it fits the style because normally with these songs the location is normally in clubs or dark lit rooms but in this video its out side which shows that this music video is genre subverting video because its the doing the opposite of what this sort of music video would normally have in it .I think that this would be good for the institution because this shows that this music video can fit subverting video because of how it does the opposite of a normal genre video because the location is not what its normal genre would use because its daylight and outside but I think that it will make a big impact on the audience because at 1.56 it will make the audience want to dance and sing because its just good I think that it fits the style.

Performance
When the artist is singing in the video it they will have a close up of them singing or playing in the song 0.34 in the video it will show you at that point in the song it will show the main guy singing with a close up which shows that its a performance this video fits the style with the time at 0.34 it shows that hes performing to an audience and its got lots of close ups in the song too. The institution would use this style for the song because  its a slow song and it just fits the performance style because that way you can get close ups with no interruptions think the audience will like at 1.45 in the song it shows that this video will impact the audience because of the camera angles with the close ups and the artist try s to stay in one place think I could use this style but i wouldn't unless it was more of an emotional song because I think I would like to use this because its very simple because throughout this song he doesn't really move on the stage.

Narrative

The song I used for narrative is drake hold on were going home because at time 0.15 in this song it has something called a cold start which is basically a story at the very start of the song which shows that this song fits into the narrative style because it tells a story throughout the whole music video.I think the institution will use this song because it has a story and that if it gets played on the radio people like drake because he's more modern so i think that this song will be good for the institution i think at the start of the song with the story the institution will like that because not that many songs have a story and its good because its a change and they will use it because this song fits this style and convention.
I think that this song will impact on the audience when at 1.20 at this part of the song that's where he goes to kill the guy who stole his girlfriend which is  good because the music video has a action story going on at the same time the song is playing. i think that a narrative could benefit me if i was to make a music video because of the start when you can make a story its very beneficial.

Animation

I like song and the reason I thought I would use it is because this music video has used animation throughout the whole song which is good because it fits the style and the conventions i think that this song will be good for the institution because they will use this song because it uses good animation which is good because there aren't a lot of music videos with good animation which show that the institution can use this video. I feel like this music video will have a huge impact on the audience the song time 0.33 because of how hes walking through the street and the animation. I think if i was to use this style it will be very hard because you would have to be good at graphics this video was done on the computer so it must have been expensive to make because the programs used must have costed a lot so I don't think this video would benefit me and I think it will be very complicated to make.


Interpretive 

Interpretive is when the visuals match the lyrics the reason I used this example is because at 0.20 he says something about a unicorn and then a unicorn pops up on the screen which shows that this a interpretive video because it shows what the artist says and it will come on the screen.The institution will use this video because of it shows that it fits the style of being interpretive I think that it will be good because this song has 2 famous artists which if they put it on a radio people will want to go and listen and watch the music video.I think this song will be good for the institution because Eminem is a famous artist so its good if they would play this on the radio for his new song to get around so people will know that he has released his new music video. I think this video will impact on the audience at 0.30 in the song because that's when the beat kicks in and a lot of the animation starts to flow with in the song. I think if I would use this I would have simple animation I would haven't the amount this does but I would just have the things I am saying pop up on the screen.



Impressionist

Impressionist is weird songs because it just weird things going on all the time and I used this song because what happening in this music video has really nothing to do with the lyrics which is weird because they normally have a little bit to do with each other. I think in most of the music video its got nothing to do with the lyrics. I this video definitely fits the this style because what's going on is really weird  I think that this song will be good for the institution because in this video people like different types of things in music videos and because this artist is famous it will be good if they put it on radios because that way the song will get around I think that this music video will be very successful. I think this music video will make a big impact on the audience at 0.50 when he looks like he is being possessed and it looks weird and some people like that because when you have just the artist singing it looks the same the audience might want to see something different. I don't think i will you this style but it could work because it wouldn't be that hard to do because you can make a lot of things up on the spot with this style.


Surreal/Abstract

Abstract is just weird things going on through the whole music video where they are all dressed up weird and it doesn't make sense because its just meant to be random some audiences like this genre of music and a lot don't because it just random and I think that this music video fits this style because it do sent make sense and what they are wearing is just weird I think that this music video is good for the institution because its different and in the music video at 1.45 you can see that none of them can sing but its just funny and random I think because if this was to be put on mainstream people would like it because its funny so i think it will be good for the institution and it will get known a lot and then people will start to watch this sort of genre. I think that this video will impact on the audience of more being funny then people actually liking the song because they cant sing and i think they are just making these videos just to be funny because at 0.50 they are just staring at each other and not even doing anything.






Pastiche/Homage

pastiche is where they copy things from the movie and I know that in this music video they do copy clips from the movie that it copies the clips from  this movie its a good choice because it was a good movie i think that its good because it helps the audience because if they like this song and see a clip from the movie in this music video they might want to see movie now. I think this video fits the style at this time 0.45 and I think that this shows that the institution will use this video because of how it fits the style. which can help the intuitions which will help them make money which is also good for the artist record label I think that it shows how music videos are changing now and are now showing clips from the music video and I know that this music video copies clips from  the movie 6 foot 7 foot which was a popular movie and I know that this helps the audience which will help make money for the music video because its promoting clips from the movie so they are helping the song and the movie in both ways which is a bit help i know that it will change music videos from now on because its something new and the audience will like the change.



Parody

A parody is where it takes the Mick out of an actual music video and the example is used for a parody is iggy azalea - fancy because you can tell by the lyrics and the way they act in the video is made to take the Mick out of it.the reason I chose this as my example is because it is a popular song and its funny what they say with the lyrics its good because if people like to watch parody's of other music videos and this is a good song they will gain a big audience and then people can share the video and get it more known which is good for the people that song this song.  think that this song will be a big impact on audience at 0.56 because that's when  they starts to take the Mick out the song while dancing as well i think at that point. its kind of good for the artist but not so good because it gets around still and if people like it they might look for the actual song but if they don't like the song they might like this better because its a parody. this is a good parody because you can get some parody which are not that good and that haven't changed the song that much because with a parody the lyrics should be changed for it to be funny because it will make it more funny to mess with the lyrics.


Referencing

Referencing is when the song is in a movie and then then in the music video they will use some clips from the movie in that music video. I know that this music video will be good for the institution because if this was meant to be  played on television like on main stream channels it would make sense because its got clips from a famous movie and the music video has famous artists in this video which means that it helps the movie and the song at the time in the music video 0.50 as you can see it shows clips from the movie the amazing spider man which is sort of new which is good because then when people watch the movie and hear this song or watch the music video they might want to watch the movie. this will make a huge impact on the audience because of who sings this song and a lot of people like her and this song will defiantly make a lot of money because it has clips from the movie the amazing spider man i think if i was to use this style it would be good and easy because there are a bunch of movies out now so it wouldn't that hard to use this style.
